swisspeace is a practice-oriented peace research institute. swisspeace contributes to the improvement of conflict prevention and conflict transformation by producing innovative research, shaping discourses on international peace policy, developing and applying new peacebuilding tools and methodologies, supporting and advising other peace actors, as well as by providing and facilitating spaces for analysis, discussion, critical reflection and learning.

To support our Dealing with the Past Program swisspeace is looking for an:

ram Officer (100%)

Starting date: 1 January 2025 (or by agreement), contract duration: 1 year

The swisspeace Dealing with the Past (DwP) Program supports governmental and non-governmental actors in the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of DwP activities. The program provides a wide range of training opportunities and contributes to the research-policy nexus through its research projects, conferences, publications and teaching. The team works in a self-organized manner in different project teams.
Your tasks
  • Coordinate the administrative and logistical preparation and implementation of the Dealing with the Past Dialogues that the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs organizes in cooperation with swisspeace, including through on-site presence at the course for up to 10 days in May 2025, 
  • Support the design and implementation of projects and mandates, e.g., by conducting desk and literature reviews, drafting sections of proposals and reports,
  • Assist in implementing capacity-building activities, conferences, and/or workshops,
  • Assist in reporting and administration, as well as monitoring and evaluation of projects,
  • Other relevant tasks as necessary.
Your profile
  • Masters’ degree in a relevant discipline (international relations, political sciences, social sciences, law or similar disciplines) 
  • Aspiration to develop a career in peacebuilding and/or the topic of Dealing with the Past,
  • Competence in advising, coaching and/or training stakeholders, as well as project management,
  • Strong service orientation and intercultural, interpersonal, and communication skills,
  • Excellent spoken and written German and English, other languages are assets,
  • Strong organizational skills, pro-active, reliable and paying attention to detail,
  • You enjoy working in a self-organized manner and within a team,
  • Ability to work under pressure and to prioritize in view of competing deadlines,
  • Availability for international travel, including to conflict-affected countries
What we offer
